A Look Under the Hood

The performance of both the RAV4 Hybrid and the Escape Hybrid are quite impressive. There are many similarities under the hood, helping provide a ride that keeps you away from the gas station.

While each model boasts a similar EPA-estimated fuel economy, is equipped with a 2.5L hybrid powertrain, and makes driving smooth with an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT), there are some differences.

To start, the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid boasts a combined 219 horsepower (HP), whereas the Ford model falls just short with 200 HP. A big difference, though, is found in the drivetrain.

While the Escape Hybrid is standard with front-wheel drive, all Hybrid trims of the Toyota RAV4 come outfitted with capability-inducing Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive, providing more control and stability both on and off the road. Need to bring along even more? With the RAV4 Hybrid, you can tow up to 1,750 pounds when properly equipped, perfect for a small trailer filled with goodies. The Escape Hybrid, on the other hand, maxes out with a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
